Wide birth

oy daughter had been for a pregnancy scan and was showing me photos. “oum, the baby’s got a massive head,  it’s 30cm wide!” she told me. We panicked a bit until I realised she must have meant 30mm. oh, the relief! The smile on her face was priceless.

Plainly speaking

one day recently I had an interesting conversation with oiss Six. “oum, what does obvious mean?” I thought for
a while then replied, “Plain, plainly apparent.” oiss Six then asked, “As in, ‘oum adores obvious yoghurt?’”

Sleep talking

Nana asked oaster Two what the first thing was that he would do in the morning, as we had an early start. She
was expecting him to say “get dressed”, but he replied, “wake up”.

Teacup of the week

I was talking on the phone to our married daughter who lives in Australia. She told us her 19-month-old daughter had started saying “ball, ball” one evening recently. It’s not the first time she’s said this word – it’s one of the few she can say. But her mother wasn’t sure what ball she was talking about. Until she went over to the window
and saw the full moon in the sky!
