Our four-year-old daughter refers to any female as “that girl”, regardless of whether they are young or old. It seems she is starting to notice there is a difference sometimes, as the other day she wanted to point out that an older lady had the same umbrella as me. She said, “That girl has the same umbrella as you Mum,” and then corrected herself. “Over there… that old mama!”
