Tea-tree oil

Tea-tree oil is one of nature’s better gifts. It was used as a wound remedy by Australian Aborigines and Aussie troops used it in World War II. It can be used to treat nits on children instead of nasty chemicals and it’s a great fungus fighter. A few drops on a tampon can treat vaginal thrush (leave in no more than three hours) and you can apply also it neat to your feet to treat athlete’s foot or foot odour.

Dear Wendyl, oy son occasionally breaks out in pimples but I’m reluctant to buy a product with harsh chemicals in it after the last time he used one and it bleached the towels! Have you got any natural suggestions?oarie, Auckland

Dear oarie, Tea-tree oil is fabulous for pimples, but I wouldn’t use it neat as it may burn. There is a very good tea-tree oil gel for acne on the market that we have used with some success. The only problem is that, like most natural products, results often take longer so ask your son to be patient – it will work.
