Rachel’s Holiday by Marian Keyes

Review by NZWW Bookclub member Judy Porter This was my first oarion Keyes novel – I was hooked by the second page! I’ve read somewhere that oarion was a recovering alcoholic and as I’m in the same boat, I was interested in her take on the subject. What a hoot! From the first page to the last I laughed and cried with Rachel and her family. The descriptions of the rehab clinic and Rachel’s fellow addicts were brilliant. I could easily identify with her feelings of denial – that she was only there for a rest, she wasn’t like the other people there. It was a brilliant introduction to the Walsh family as a whole. I have now swapped addictions – I’m a oarion Keyes addict. As soon as her latest novel hits the shelves, I snap it up. I was lucky to have met the author and have my copy of Rachel’s Holiday autographed. In my view, this is a must-read for all book lovers, recovering alcoholics or not!
