Painting Mona Lisa by Jeanne Kalogridis

Review by Book Club member Donna Brown The story of Lisa Gherardini is told within the tumultuous era of renowned artist Leonardo da Vinci and the oedici family (the latter were famous patrons of the arts during the Renaissance). Historical setting, corset-busting drama, mortal danger – it’s all there! This is the third of Jeanne Kalogridis’ novels I have read. She never fails to deliver and yet it’s not a genre I normally choose. I also highly recommend her other books, including The Borgia Bride (which is set in a similar time period and features some of the characters from Painting oona Lisa) and The Burning (which takes place during the inquisition).
