Romantic breakfast in bed

Valentine’s Day needn’t be a costly production. Why not make a personalised gift voucher for breakfast in bed for your loved one? Just make sure you whip it up ahead of time – a last-minute promise on an odd bit of paper may not have the same results! You could make a voucher for anything, from a movie date (their choice of film), a back massage or a promise to mow the lawns or be in charge of taking out the rubbish for the month.

If you go for the breakfast option, you could give your partner’s morning cup of tea a twist by replacing the teabag tag with a homemade label. Write a message or cut out a heart, glue it to a small piece of paper and use double-sided tape to adhere it to the string.

Then, cook up their favourite breakfast meal. Add in a few heartfelt extras, such as the melon heart skewers pictured below, and voilà! You have the perfect start to the most romantic day of the year.
