To make the cover

Foundation chain: Using 5mm (US size H/8) hook, make 28 ch.

Row 1 (RS): 1 dc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 ch, miss 1 ch, 1 dc in next ch; rep from to end of row, turn.

Row 2: 1 ch (counts as first stitch), 1 dc in next 1-ch space, 1 ch; rep from to end of row, ending with 1 dc in 1-ch at end of row, turn.

Repeat Row 2 until work measures 61cm (24in).

Fasten off.

To finish

Lay crochet wrong-side up, with last row at the bottom. Then fold up 25cm (10in) with wrong sides together and pin – the remaining 10cm (4in) section at the top is for the flap. Sew side seams from the right side with overcasting stitches. Using thread the same colour as yarn, sew one button to the centre of the outer side of the flap, close to the flap edge. Fold flap to the front of the case and mark the position of the second button on the case front just below the first button. Sew the second button in place. Use a 25cm (10in) length of twine to securely close the case, wrapping it first around one button and then the other.
