Has it been a dream of yours to write a book? Maybe you have an idea of what you would like to write about but no idea how or where to begin. Everyone has a story to tell but some people just need encouragement or an excuse to begin writing.
To help encourage you in your pursuit, we’ve put together some steps below to motivate and guide you on your literary quest.
Topic
What kind of writing are you interested in? Would you like to write fiction or non-fiction? Do you have a particular interest in a topic or a passion you want to explore? If you’re not sure, start doing some research. Have a notebook handy and jot ideas down, read widely and go online to research.
Hone your literary skills
If you want some inspiration to begin the process, why not enrol in a creative writing class. There are many courses available and you can choose to study part-time, online, extramurally or at night to fit around your lifestyle. The focus of most of these courses is on the practical side of writing and on finding your own unique style.
