Interior decorating: Living colour

It may be a shared living space, but that doesn’t mean you can’t put your own personal stamp on a lounge.

Visitors and family will feel welcome and safe in an area that’s full of life and love.

Living rooms should be spaces for doing just that – an area full of life, warmth and comfort.

While still being organised and tidy, it allows the children of the family to enjoy the room without worrying about mess.

It’s not uptight and formal – it’s a place to relax, for the kids to play, and the family to enjoy each other’s company.

If you do have little ones on the loose, choose a flameless candle for safety, rather than a traditional tea light.

These give a lovely ambient glow and run on batteries, so you don’t have to worry about keeping them out of the reach of young hands.

This room shows how easy it is to create a piece of art from scratch. An old branch has been brought back to life through a bit of love and creativity. Keep it natural or paint the stems.

However, artwork doesn’t need to be quite so overt.

The stunning red and white striped chair in the left corner is a piece in itself, adding character and warm charm.
