I’ve met someone, but he has a troubled teenage daughter in all sorts of difficulties. I have a teen of my own and don’t want to add problems by continuing the relationship. But I might be missing out on something really special. Any thoughts?

Can you take it slow? Your teen will only be one for a few years. It’s a pivotal time. Your kids need you, and a stable life, more than at any other time. Yet walking away from this guy just because he’s struggling with his daughter does seem heartless. All relationships come with baggage. So, take it slow. Have him as a friend, keep the families separate for now, be supportive and see where it goes.
