Next time you need to clean your car, try these handy tips from green goddess Wendyl Nissan.
To wash a very dirty car, use a mixture of 4 litres of water to ½ litre of methylated spirits. Do not rinse – instead give your car a good rub with a soft cloth
To remove insects that have stuck to the car, take a plastic mesh bag (used to hold onions and lemons) and roll it into a ball. Use this to rub and collect the dead insects
To clean chrome, dip a damp cloth into baking soda and rub over the surface. Rinse, dry and shine
Pop a few drops of liquid detergent in your windscreen washer container to clean muddy or dusty windscreens
To clean rubber floor mats, rub liquid furniture wax into them
Vinyl car upholstery cleans up well with a solution of 1 cup dishwashing detergent to 2 litres of warm water. Create lots of bubbles by beating the solution with an egg beater and use the suds to clean with a sponge
To cover up small scratches on the car, rub with a matching colour wax crayon.
