When the bustle of Christmas is behind us, it’s truly time to wind down and relax.
What better way to do this than with a casual, relaxing lunch, enjoyed in the beauty of nature?
This good-old Kiwi tradition is one of my favourite things to do in summer. It’s also the best way to use up those leftovers from Christmas Day (see Jo Wilcox’s recipes on page 46 for inspiration).
Pack a hamper and head to your local park, beach, or just set up on your backyard.
Planning is key – you don’t want to end up far from home without all your essentials, such as rugs, cushions, citronella candles, matches, a sturdy hamper, plates, cutlery and a bat and ball for entertainment.
Once you have everything you need, create a colourful, carefree environment for the whole family to be comfortable. As long as the kids are happy!
