Interior decorating: Let the sunshine in

  • Photo 1 of 0

Get that relaxed, summer seaside feeling in your living room – no matter where it is. This look suits any beach-loving Kiwi, and while it’s perfect for holiday homes it will work in city-based spaces too.

You come here to unwind, so it’s important to create an easygoing area that is versatile and practical – somewhere you can lounge around by day and, in the evening, play family games and watch movies.

Baches are often short of space, so you need to think about storage solutions. Board games for rainy days, sports equipment and all the other summer tools need to be out of sight in order to maintain your tidy and comfortable look.

Trunks are the perfect way to store such items, as they not only hide stuff away, but also serve as a great way to accessorise and theme the room. They can even be used as coffee tables and the like.

Keep your room light and bright with a colour on the walls such as “Butter”. This gives off a nice glow, while you kick back on the couch with a paperback.
