Interior decorating: Kids bedrooms

The rules have changed when it comes to kids' bedrooms.

Blue for a boy, pink for a girl? Not any more.  Don’t be weighed down by traditional thinking when it comes to painting the walls of your child’s room.

The right hue of blue can actually be used to make a distinctively feminine room. Simply pair with pastel accessories and a hint of pink.

Soft tones are essential if you are working with a limited natural light source. Keep the walls pale and cheerful to bring a brightness to the space that otherwise doesn’t exist. Throwing a sheepskin rug on the floor adds a soft touch.

Why not incorporate some old-fashioned elements, such as this retro doll’s house and refurbished chest? Mix with modern elements to keep youngsters happy, while great storage is a must.

The biggest investment – and probably hardest decision – is the bed. It’s often a tricky purchase, but always think ahead when choosing one, as they will grow up very quickly!
