Dreaming of a volcanic eruption

Dreaming of a volcanic eruption

Dear Janet Louise,
My sister had a strange dream the other night – she can’t make any sense out of it and keeps puzzling over it. In her dream, a volcano had erupted and lava was flowing down a hill. She was running away from it, but it was too fast for her and the hot lava ended up covering her completely and burning her. Does this mean anything, or it is just one of those dreams that 10-year-olds have?

Jessica, via email

Dear Jessica,
Your sister’s dream definitely has a meaning and I am pleased you told me her age. This makes a lot of sense when considered with the definition of her dream. To dream of a volcano with the lava coming down the hill to consume her represents feelings, emotions and situations that she is trying to make sense of. She is in a transition stage and is forging ahead with her goals, looking at what is important to her and having her own opinions.

She has ambitions with a strong desire to succeed in life, with a lot of energy and motivation driving her. What is happening in her waking life will offer a clue to what needs to be looked at, talked about and dealt with. It is quite important she shares what is troubling her. Is there something or maybe someone she is trying to avoid? There is a wee warning here – talk with her about how important it is to share how she feels and her worries, as there is some pent-up frustration and fear in her.

If she explodes, she may say something she will regret and it may cause a bit more drama. Love, communication and understanding will go a long way here for a young lady. Remind her to focus and keep her eye on successes to come.
