The Hobbit

Rated M.

You can fight hard against the hype and the hoopla, but it is difficult to hide a sense of excitement as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey begins. No doubt you’ll be completely won over – the story appeals to anyone who loves a good adventure. Although slow to start, with introductions and explanations favoured over action, the pace quickly lifts as soon as Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) begins his quest. It is clear Sir Peter Jackson is taking his time, leaving almost no page of Tolkien’s classic unturned. Despite the film coming in at just under three hours, it was clear the audience was glued to the screen and feeling Bilbo’s fear, excitement and wonder every step of the way.

Rating:4/5
