NZ Woman's Weekly

From the editor

Editor of the NZWW, Louise WrightHow lovely it is to meet you. After five weeks’ holiday with my family, where one endless Kiwi summer day blended into another, I’m at the Weekly editor’s desk – 20-plus years after I started my career here. Life has taken a few twists and turns along the way since those days in the early ‘90s, when we wrote stories on typewriters and filed carbon copies to our editor, Jenny Lynch. Never for a minute did I think that I’d be following in her footsteps! With a heritage spanning 80 years, the Weekly has a firm place in our culture. I remember walking to the local stationery store in Christchurch with my lovely grandmother to pick up her put-aside copy, and laughed out loud this summer when, after climbing Rangitoto with the kids, we discovered a pristine 1950s copy in one of the cabins, telling women to always apply lipstick before their husband came home from work! Times have changed, but the spirit of this magazine has not. I look forward to shaping your favourite title in the coming weeks and, most of all, sharing your stories.
