The Hangover Part III

The Hangover was released to rave reviews and huge financial success, while the sequel quite simply rewrote box office and DVD record books.

Fast-forward to 2013 and a final instalment was a juicy cash cow just begging to be milked. So what are those crazy cats up to now? Well, there isn’t a hangover to speak of, with the main focus on eccentric 42-year-old Alan Garner (Zach Galifianakis), who receives an intervention from friends and family, and drug-loving Leslie Chow (Ken Jeong), who is holed up in a Thai prison.

The relationship between the two is the tenuous touch-point of the whole movie, as Chow is wanted by bad guys trying to retrieve some stolen bullion. And after a promising first 20 minutes, this movie careers downhill pretty fast. It feels hastily put together and lacks the warmth and dim-witted charm of the first two. The biggest laugh came during the end credits – unfortunately, it wasn’t really worth waiting for.
