Tea party ideas

Invite the ladies in your life over for a good old-fashioned tea party. Whether it’s a small affair for two or a celebration for a number of friends, it’s a wonderful way to catch up as the days get warmer.

Set the scene with sweet pastels and pretty florals. This room started with a base of mint green, which gives a neutral feel, whilst still being summery, fresh and feminine.

It’s relatively easy to set up a tea party at home, with so many pretty props readily available in stores. Take inspiration from the beautiful baking books currently on offer, including top titles by New Zealanders, such as Bluebells Cakery and Little and Friday Celebrations. Create cakes and sandwiches in your own kitchen if time allows, or pick up a few sweets from local stores.

The trick is in the presentation. Gorgeous place mats and napkins, a stylish glass cake cover and a vase of fresh blooms instantly lift the look.

Ensure a full place setting is made for each guest, then put the kettle on and enjoy a memorable day with those close to you. Enjoy!
