Hair myths debunked change shampoos

Myth: You have to constantly change your shampoo for healthy hair

Contrary to what many believe, hair does not ‘get used to’ a shampoo. However, if your hair is looking a little lacklustre it’s most likely due to product build-up and residue. Experts recommend using a clarifying shampoo every week or two to remove build-up and in-between continue to use your favourite ecostore shampoo and conditioner.

Hair myths debunked trim hair

Myth: Your hair will grow faster if you trim it regularly

On average hair grows about one cm a month and its growth isn’t effected by how often you visit the salon for a trim. However, trimming hair every eight to 12 weeks will help eradicate split ends and keep hair looking healthy and beautiful.

Hair myths debunked wash hair every day

Myth: You should wash your hair every day

Washing hair every day strips hair of its natural oils and dries it out, which means you will need to use more products to see great results. Instead, experts recommend washing your hair when it starts to look dirty, which can range from two to three times a week.

Hair myths debunked brushing hair 100 strokes

Myth: You should brush your hair with 100 strokes a day

This old wives tale could in fact be causing you more harm than good. Over brushing hair can lead to split ends and breakage. Instead, gently run a brush through your tresses a few times to help smooth it out and style.

Hair myths debunked skip conditioner

Myth: You should skip conditioner if you have oily hair

Don’t think that if you have oily hair it means you have to avoid conditioner. Instead, wash hair using a clarifying shampoo, concentrating on the roots, and then run a nourishing conditioner through just the middle and ends of your hair.

Hair myths debunked rinse hair in cold water

Myth: Your hair will look shinier if you rinse with cold water

Finishing your shampoo routine with a dousing of icy cold water might help wake you up but it will have little effect on adding extra shine to your locks. Instead, steer clear of the arctic temperatures and wash hair in warm water.
