Reinventing the screwdriver

A few weeks ago you wrote about sarsaparilla and I remembered that ghastly screwdriver cocktail we used to drink. If we didn’t have any on hand we’d just have fizzy orangeade and vodka. Is there any way this drink can redeem itself? What would you recommend to reinvent it?
With a range of varieties, including blood orange and mandarin, now available from local and European beverage companies, there’s no excuse for making your screwdriver with artificial orange fizzy! Better still, you could use real orange juice and quality New Zealand vodka. Garnish with mint and/or lime for a refreshing summer cocktail – maybe even add a dash of Malibu or Galliano for a more tropical effect.
