Roast recipes: top ten roasts

 

  1. Perfect roast pot"Perfectatoes

    Potatoes can be boiled earlier in the day, then dried and roasted later.

  2. Slow-roast beef with red wine gravy and Yorkshire puddings

    The first ever recorded recipe appears in a book, The Whole Duty of a Woman in 1737 and listed as A Dripping Pudding – the dripping coming from spit-roast meat.

  3. Rosemary roast vegetable salad with balsamic dressing

    Rosemary adds a wonderful depth and aroma to any meal. Add a small sprinkle for an accent, or a generous amount to enhance the woody tastes in this dish.

  4. Roast pumpkin soup with pesto croutons

    Serve as a starter, or as a main with extra croutons on the side.

  5. Salmon fillet with roast vegetables

    The salmon will continue to cook for a few minutes after it’s removed from the oven.

    Ask your butcher to joint a whole chicken for you or use a variety of chicken portions for this dish.

    Give new life to the traditional lamb roast with Indian spices and rice.

    This is a very versatile recipe – the same cooked veges can be whizzed up to make a thick, spicy dip; add stock to this puree and you have a delicious winter soup; or simply serve hot as a side dish or cold as a delicious salad.

  9. Curry roast kumara and bacon salad

    An unsual combination, but the combination of flavours and textures makes for an interesting dish for the whole family

  10. Roasted mushroom soup

    Serve with soft, buttery bread and a hot water bottle.
