How to find the perfect bra for you

Rose & Thorne's underwear designers share their top tips for finding the right bra for you.
Find the right bra for you

Its the item of clothing women spend the most time wearing. So it’s important to find the right fit for you when bra shopping. To find out how, we caught up with Rose & Thorne’s underwear designers to discover their top tips for finding the right bra for you.

What are your top tips for finding the right sized bra?

The best advice I can give is to always get fitted by an experienced fitter. If you are unable to, there are a couple of checks to make sure you are wearing the correct sized bra: When you put on your bra it should feel firm around your body and most importantly, ensure your bra wires are nowhere near your breast flesh.

What changing room tests should we do to ensure the fit is correct?

When you put your bra on, make sure your breast is sitting correctly in the bra- put your hand in the cup and bring your breast forward into the cup.

Next check:

  • The band around the body: It should be firm but comfortable. This is the key support for the bra.

  • The wire: Should be fully away from the breast flesh

  • The centre-front of the bra: Should sit firmly back against the body and give you good separation.

  • Straps: Should be tightened but not digging in to your skin. This closes the cup down against the breast.

How often should we replace our bras?

It depends on how well you look after them and how often you rotate them. If you rotate them and look after them well, they should last 12-18 months. If they’re looking and feeling tired, it’s likely time to say goodbye.

What are the key trends for Rose & Thorne’s summer range?

This month (October) look out for pieces in bright orange, yellow and green, which are both attention grabbing and playful. In November our little black bra story launches, which features easy-to-wear black basics as well as more seductive lacy pieces.

What cup size do Rose & Thorne bras go up to?

Our sizes go up to 24G.

What are the essential bras every woman should own?

There are three lingerie essentials: A smooth line bra, such as a our t-shirt bra Smooth Operator. A push-up bra like our Perky Power, which gives great profile lift and cleavage for those fun nights out. And another everyday bra.

How should we care for our bras?

Your lingerie is best loved when it’s hand washed and dried flat. We recommend you steer clear of dryers, drying in full sunlight and avoid fabric softener. Never flip your t-shirt bra cups into each other, and use a net lingerie bag if you don’t have time to hand wash.
