Tamsin Cooper: My beauty secrets

Fashion designer Tamsin Cooper (37) presents Hearts In Crafts on TVNZ Heartland, Sundays at 7pm.

My beauty philosophy is… First and foremost to believe in yourself. Highlight your natural beauty by wearing clothes that suit your body shape. Ditch the black and wear colour as it will make you look and feel younger.

The skincare products I can’t live without are… The AHAVA skincare range which is packed full of fabulous minerals from the Dead Sea. It makes your skin look and feel great and smells absolutely divine.

My haircare secret is… To create lovely loose curls and waves. I use good old-fashioned style hot rollers in dry hair. I love the effect so much that it has become part of my daily beauty routine and only takes five to eight minutes.

The must-have products in my makeup bag are… MAC Mineralise Satin finish Foundation, MAC Strobe Cream (great when you’re tired and for giving your face a little glow), good old trusty Maybelline NY Great Lash Mascara in Blackest Black and MAC Powder Blush in Desert Rose.

My favourite beauty treat is… I’m absolutely addicted to Artistic Colour Gloss gel nail polish. It lasts two to three weeks without chipping and gives you a flawless polish. This is the best treat if you’re a working mum like I am, as you won’t chip your nails doing chores before work.

My biggest beauty sin is… Drinking too much coffee and not enough water. It dehydrates my skin – but I know you’ll understand the need for that first coffee to kick-start the day.

The best thing my mother taught me about beauty was… She instilled in me from a very young age a confidence that I could be whatever I wanted to be and that you don’t need to wear makeup to be beautiful – you just are.
