Former model Sarah Cowan (33) of Palmerston North is director of The Herb Farm and a busy mum.

My beauty philosophy is… Take care of your skin, stay hydrated, live a healthy and balanced lifestyle and do things that make you feel happy, healthy and confident – then I think beauty radiates naturally.

The skincare products I can’t live without are… I can’t live without our new Echinacea & Blackcurrant Radiant Face Cream and Kiwiseed & Hazelnut Nourishing Face Oil from our Lasting Beauty range. At The Herb Farm, I’m lucky enough to create the products I personally want to use on my skin and for me that means 100% natural and effective.

My haircare secret is… Colour Me Organic hair dye by Radico. It’s a 100% natural blend with henna powder so it does eventually wash out but it gives me a great colour and shine. I also use organic coconut oil on the ends of my hair when it’s still damp to keep it nourished and smooth.

The must-have products in my make-up bag are… My favourite make-up products are Inika Mineral Powder Foundation and I always have at least one Karen Murrell lipstick on hand. My favourite at the moment is Violet Mousse.

My favourite beauty treat is… I love to indulge in a facial or a massage from the amazing Kylie at the Herb Farm beauty retreat in Ashhurst, but for an easy beauty treatment, nothing beats a hot bath with Epsom salts and essential oils to melt any tension away.

My biggest beauty sin is… Not replacing my mascara regularly enough. I use Jane Iredale Mascara but it lasts for so long it is easy to forget how long it has been in my make-up bag!

The best thing my mother taught me about beauty was… The Herb Farm was my mother’s baby until I took over running the business. The greatest values she instilled in me were to keep it natural and steer away from any synthetic chemicals.
