My beauty secrets: Merilyn Havler

My beauty secrets: Merilyn Havler

Aucklander Merilyn Havler (48) is the founder of beautyreview.co.nz

My beauty philosophy is… It’s vital to update the colours and products you use as you age. I’m lucky, my skin can pretty much tolerate anything, which is great as I’m always trialling new items for the site and trying those I see great reviews for.

The skincare products I can’t live without are… Trilogy Nutrient Plus Firming Serum, Clarins Beauty Flash Balm and Clinique Moisture Surge.

My haircare secret is… KÉrastase Ciment Thermique Leave-In Reconstructing Milk.  This is great for hair that gets a lot of heat. I change my hairstyle every four to five months. I go straight and sleek for a while, and then chip into it and flick it out, then chop it all off for summer.

The must-have items in my make-up bag are… MAC Lipstick in Twig, a foundation brush and my new find – Max Factor CC Cream. CC stands for complexion correction and it’s like a heavier version of a tinted moisturiser. This one is gorgeous (and affordable). It covers imperfections and evens out your skin tone.

My favourite beauty treat is… Going to a nail bar with a magazine and getting a pedicure.

My biggest beauty sin is… Going to bed without taking off my make-up.

The best thing my mother taught me about beauty was…You’re never too young to wear a good moisturiser. I was raiding her stash when I was 10 years old!
