My beauty secrets: Chanel Oades

Chanel Oades of Auckland is the New Zealand distributor of the Eye Öf Hörus range of natural eye make-up, based on ancient Egyptian formulas.

My beauty philosophy is… To choose natural, organic products and those not tested on animals. It’s also important to unwind at the end of the day – your skin and body become affected by stress.  I love to use The AromaRoom Calm Oil to relax. It’s ethically produced and the smell is amazing!

The skincare products I can’t live without are… Phyt Organicrange. They go beyond the highest certification in Europe to provide products which are 100% natural and organic. My must-haves include the Contact + Exfoliant and Naturoderm Stimulating Antiseptic for any blemishes and Crème Reviderm to hydrate my skin.

My haircare secret is… Pure Fiji Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner. Right now, I’m really into anything with coconut oil.

The must-have products in my make-up bag are… Eye Öf HÖrus Goddess Mascara, Liquid Liner and Bronze Amulet Goddess Pencil. The liquid is so easy to apply and the bronze complements my eye colouring.

My favourite beauty treat is… Going to Auckland’s Organic Health Spa for a pedicure. When time is not on my side, a home job using The ARomatherapy Company Peppermint Foot Scrub and Relaxing Foot Soak does the trick, finished off with a bright nail colour from Zoya – free from toxic ingredients toluene, formaldehyde and DBP.

My biggest beauty sin is… Bad time management when getting ready.

The best thing my mother taught me about beauty was…Always use sunscreen and wash off your make-up  every night before bed – thanks Mum!
