How to apply lipstick There are many ways to apply lipstick and one rule doesn’t necessarily fit all. You can either talk to a make up professional about using a special lipstick brush. otherwise applying your lipstick straight from the tube is a tried and tested trick!
Never use a test lipstick on your lips. The one time however, you should never use lipstick straight out of the tube, is when it’s a tester. This is just plain unhygienic. Instead, test lipstick on your fingertips. It’s a closer fit to your lips than the back of your hand.
You can use a lipstick liner before or after you apply lipstick. Some women prefer to apply liner first, arguing that you won’t be able to see the natural line of your lips if you apply lipstick first. But others prefer the look of lining their lips after the lipstick has been applied. Play around with both techniques and see which works best for you.
Never use a dark liner with light lipstick. Defined lips are great, but make sure the liner matches the lipstick or gloss. Dark liner with light lips makes for a tacky look.
Keeping lipstick off your glass, or teeth. By discreetly licking your lips before taking a sip from a glass, you’ll prevent an unsightly lipstick line after you’ve taken a sip of your drink. As for your teeth, after applying lipstick, take your index finger and pop it in your mouth, then pull it out. The excess lipstick will come off on your finger rather than your teeth.
Your skin colour determines your lipstick shade. You may like a lipstick on your friend, but it may not look good on you. Talk to somebody at your local beauty counter about your colouring, and complimentary shades.
