Getting rid of acne scars

30 Aug

Unfortunately, at some point, most of us have suffered from acne. Whether it be in our teenage years or as an adult onset case, acne can leave behind scarring on the face which make up can only do so much to cover.

The good news is that if you have suffered from this affliction, there are ways to diminish and reduce the appearance of acne scars. The severity of your scars will determine the actions you need to take, but there is a range of treatments for all levels.

For mild scarring, you can try at home procedures. There are many dermabrasion and peel treatments on the market that can be used at home. Other at home products to combat scarring include Bio-oil and Rosehip seed oil. Aloe Vera juice and gels are also said to work well on reducing scars.

For more noticeable scarring, you may need to seek profession treatment. These usually come in the form of lasers to remove skin so that new skin can form in it’s place. Laser resurfacing is a relatively new procedure so talk to your local beauty clinic about the pros and cons before proceeding.

Dermabrasion, on the other hand, has been around for decades. A machine rotates over the damaged skin to remove it and allow new skin to grow in its place. After the procedure your skin is raw and will be reddish for several weeks afterwards, but it can have highly effective results.

Augmentation is another profession treatment which will help reduce scarring. This is a procedure where material like collagen is injected under the scar to bring it to the surface. This kind of treatment lasts for up to six months.

Over the Teacups

My four-year-old grandson was at the supermarket with his mother when he exclaimed, “You’re buying something, Mummy, auntie is buying something – I want to buy something!” Mum replied, “You have to be big, have a wife, have a job, then you can buy things.” He replied, “I have a wife – Maia,” meaning his four-year-old friend. Mum said, “What about a job?” Master Four replied, “My job is having a wife!”

Water you want?

I was in the car and asking Master Three what he wanted for Christmas. He said he was going to ask Santa for a water pistol. “And Nanny,” he added, “I’m going to ask for some water for our paddling pool.” Now that could be interesting!

Bee gone

Master Three had his first bee sting recently. The incident broke his heart, but after many cuddles he came right. Later he said, “I never want to see another bee again. I don’t like bees any more, I only like flies.”

Fraud with worry

My daughter warned me that “old people are being taken for a ride,” and that I shouldn’t engage in conversation with phone sales people. To this, Master Five piped up, “Nana can’t go on that ride, she’s old.”
