Bitter orange is the first aroma you get from Guerlain’s new limited edition Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Bianca $113 (1). The idea of this range is that they’re super fresh, wearable fragrances and a new version is launched every European spring. With the latest one, creator Thierry Wasser has tried to compose every element of an orange tree from the fruit to the twigs and leaves. I wasn’t convinced at first spritz – after all, who wants to smell exactly like citrus? But then more complex notes of neroli, blossom and petitgrain emerged and I began to change my mind. This is an unusual fragrance – it’s very Italian, revitalising and uplifting to wear, but definitely one you’ll either love or hate. You’ll love it if…you like fresh, green, natural fragrances and oranges.
You’ll hate it if… you prefer sweet, floral, woody or oriental scents.
