Christmas Party Lips!

1 If you’re busy having a good time, the last thing you want is to be constantly reapplying your lipstick. So it’s worth spending a bit of extra time on your lips when you’re doing your party makeup.

Here’s Lancôme’s top New Zealand makeup artist Juliet Gardiner’s step-by-step guide to lasting lippy. 1. Prepare your lips with a nourishing base – something that will keep your lips soft while preventing your lipstick from bleeding. Try Lancôme Primordiale Lip Treatment $62 or Lancôme Le Rouge Absolue Lip Base with SPF 15 $55.

  1. Lightly trace the area that surrounds the lip and cupid’s bow with concealer. This will neutralise your lip colour so your lipstick will look bright and fresh. It also gives the illusion of fuller lips. Try Lancôme Flash Retouche Concealing Pen $65.
  1. Now dust lightly with a little loose or pressed powder to set the makeup so it lasts longer.
  1. Apply a lip pencil or crayon to define the shape but don’t just do the outline. Instead, fill in the entire lip to create long-lasting colour. Try Lancôme Crayon Contour $44.
  1. Again dust lightly with powder.
  1. Apply your choice of lipstick, ideally a long-wearing formula such as Lancôme Juicy Wear Duo $60. This lasts up to four times as long as an ordinary lipstick. Make sure you only take the lipstick up to the inner part of the lip liner, to prevent lipstick bleeding.
  1. Blot and dust with powder.
  1. Reapply the colour and top with Lancôme Juicy Wear Topcoat (part of the duo set) to add moisture and shine. Now you’re good to go!

While out and about, you should only have to reapply the gloss – the colour will be there all night. And try licking your lips before sipping your drink. The moist surface between lipstick and glass means you won’t leave a tell-tale lipstick mark behind.
