Beauty: Vitamins

Vitamins in both your diet and skincare regime can deliver stunning results.

For a complexion that is glowing with good health, you’ll need to nourish from the inside and out. Feed it well and you will reap the rewards.

Vitamin  A

Eat it to support the natural repair process. If you’re worried about the signs of ageing or you struggle with skin conditions, it’s especially important. Sources  include eggs, leafy greens, carrots, kumara and milk.

Apply it in the form of retinol or retinoic acid. It’s an anti-ageing superstar that speeds up cell turnover and fights fine lines and wrinkles. In its stronger forms this can be irritating to the skin, but over-the-counter products are milder, so while results won’t be fast, neither will inflammation. Be sure to apply sunscreen if you use any product containing retinol, as it can increase light sensitivity.

Vitamin  C

Eat it to help stimulate the production of collagen, which will keep skin youthful and firmer. You’ll find this in fresh fruit and vegetables. Apply it to rejuvenate and brighten dull skin, battle pigmentation, texture and slow the formation of wrinkles.

Vitamin  E

Eat it to help fight damaging free radicals. Found in a diet that’s rich in raw nuts, seeds, vegetable oils, leafy greens and wheat germ. Apply it for a moisture boost. It also protects from free radical damage and is highly recommended for dry skin.

Vitamin  B  complex

Eat it to help circulation and boost glow. Base your diet on pulses, a variety of fresh fruit and also vegetables, eggs, dairy, lean meat and seafood. Apply it to help improve skin tone, tighten pores, balance combination skins and tackle issues with acne.
