While it boasts stunning visual style, Russell Crowe’s latest film fails to set sail. Director Darren Aronofsky attempts to show the complexities of the man chosen to build an ark big enough to house every creature on earth, while keeping his dysfunctional family together. After adding giant rock creatures to the mix (someone has to help build the mammoth vessel), the characters are forced onto the ark, which is when the film starts to sink. The preposterous plot ruins this well-known biblical story.
