Dido Belle (played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw), the illegitimate daughter of a British officer, finds herself with health, wealth but not much happiness as 1700s social conventions force her to become an outsider in her own family.
As she struggles to come to terms with her position, her understanding grows and she becomes part of a movement to change the course of history. With plenty of sweeping scenery and impassioned speeches, Belle delivers a well-composed chick flick period drama.
