Globally applauded for their sexy, provocative and chic designs, Dean and Dan Caten are the driving force behind the uber-hip fashion design house Disquared2 which has now arrived in New Zealand in the form of their debut fragrances, He Wood and She Wood, available at Life Pharmacy.

Describing themselves as "born in Canada, living in London, and made in Italy", twin brothers Dean and Dan founded the Dsquared2 label soon after dropping out of New York's Parson School of Design. After moving to Milan in the early nineties, the fashion brand that combines Canadian irreverence with Italian style was born and today their international success continues to grow.

Inspired by their thickly forested homeland of Canada, both He Wood and She Wood celebrate wood in all its avatars. For the men, He Wood is strong and dominant with notes of musk, amber, white spruce, violet leaves, vetiver and cedar. On the other hand, She Wood, is more subtle and sensual with fresh notes of lemon, jasmine petals, violet blossom, musk and cedar wood.

We have one set containing He Wood & She Wood 50ml Eau de Toilette valued at $230 to give away.  Enter your details below by the 10th September to be in to win.

Over the Teacups

My four-year-old grandson was at the supermarket with his mother when he exclaimed, “You’re buying something, Mummy, auntie is buying something – I want to buy something!” Mum replied, “You have to be big, have a wife, have a job, then you can buy things.” He replied, “I have a wife – Maia,” meaning his four-year-old friend. Mum said, “What about a job?” Master Four replied, “My job is having a wife!”

Water you want?

I was in the car and asking Master Three what he wanted for Christmas. He said he was going to ask Santa for a water pistol. “And Nanny,” he added, “I’m going to ask for some water for our paddling pool.” Now that could be interesting!

Bee gone

Master Three had his first bee sting recently. The incident broke his heart, but after many cuddles he came right. Later he said, “I never want to see another bee again. I don’t like bees any more, I only like flies.”

Fraud with worry

My daughter warned me that “old people are being taken for a ride,” and that I shouldn’t engage in conversation with phone sales people. To this, Master Five piped up, “Nana can’t go on that ride, she’s old.”
