The Hairy Bikers
Food, friendship and adventure on the open road
This brand new food series follows the Hairy Bikers visiting counties across the British Isles on their motorbikes in search of the tastiest regional food specialties.
After touring the world, Dave Myers and Si King are back in the UK to discover the best of British.
In each show Dave & Si will visit a different county. They take a tour of the districts and meet the local people to find out what is that county?s ?signature dish?. They jump on their bikes to visit local food producers to hunt for their ingredients before cooking the county?s traditional favourite. They will cook the dish in front of an audience of locals in their Mobile Kitchen and the crowd will be invited to sample it and pass their verdict.
Dave and Si are then pushed outside of their comfort zone as they face a cook-off against one of the county?s very best chefs to create a second unique dish using local produce that typifies the county. Not used to cooking in the kitchens of fine-dining restaurants, some with Michelin stars, the Bikers need all the help they can get and visit more producers to find inspiration and source their ingredients.
As they work their way across the UK, the Hairy Bikers will rediscover the diverse range of food, drink, recipes and cooking enthusiasts throughout the British Isles.
After Dave and Si and our local top chef have offered up their finest tastes of the county in a head to head exchange in the kitchen, diners in the restaurant decide who has created the winning dish - the best taste of that county.

Over the Teacups
My four-year-old grandson was at the supermarket with his mother when he exclaimed, “You’re buying something, Mummy, auntie is buying something – I want to buy something!” Mum replied, “You have to be big, have a wife, have a job, then you can buy things.” He replied, “I have a wife – Maia,” meaning his four-year-old friend. Mum said, “What about a job?” Master Four replied, “My job is having a wife!”

Water you want?
I was in the car and asking Master Three what he wanted for Christmas. He said he was going to ask Santa for a water pistol. “And Nanny,” he added, “I’m going to ask for some water for our paddling pool.” Now that could be interesting!

Bee gone
Master Three had his first bee sting recently. The incident broke his heart, but after many cuddles he came right. Later he said, “I never want to see another bee again. I don’t like bees any more, I only like flies.”

Fraud with worry
My daughter warned me that “old people are being taken for a ride,” and that I shouldn’t engage in conversation with phone sales people. To this, Master Five piped up, “Nana can’t go on that ride, she’s old.”
