Gorgeous Australian model Madeline Stuart has been turning heads throughout her career. Soon, the 18-year-old will be commanding the attention of some of the biggest fashionistas in the world, after landing jobs at New York Fashion Week.

The beautiful strawberry blonde, who has Down syndrome, will be strutting her stuff on the catwalk for athleticwear company Manifesta and eco handbag brand everMaya in September.

“We are absolutely thrilled to work with a talent like Madeline on our newest national ad campaign,” said Damian Graybelle, everMaya’s president, in a statement. “All of us at everMaya feel very strongly about creating a brand that is rooted in a spirit of inclusion and providing opportunities for those who begin life with barriers to success.”

Madeline took to Facebook to express her excitement at landing the coveted gigs at one of the hottest fashion events of the year: “Guess who is going to be modelling at New York Fashion Week in September. MEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!”

Her Facebook page describes herself as an “aspiring model”. She hopes through modelling she can change society’s view of people with disabilities, by creating awareness, acceptance and inclusion.

This is the first time a model with Down syndrome has landed two NYFW campaigns.

“It is very exciting and it’s going to take her from one level to the next,” says her mother Roseanne. “[American Horror Story actress] Jamie Brewer did it in February, but she is a movie star, she’s not a model. With Madeline, this is her career, so I think it’s going to be a great platform for her.”

Madeline is inspired by a quote by Coco Chanel: “A girl should be two things: who and what she wants.”

On her Facebook page Madeline says 14 months ago she was overweight, so she changed her lifestyle and eating habits to live a long and healthy life. She hopes to help others make positive changes in their own lives.

Madeline loves dancing and playing sport. She exercises six days a week.

Madeline loves her supporters. She asks that fans don’t be shy and come up and ask for a photo when they see her.

Madeline will brighten up the runway at the Vanderbill Hall ‪on September 13, 2015.

EverMaya have created a bag called “The Madeline” especially for the beautiful model. 5% of the sales go to the National Down’s Syndrome Society.

“Her doctors told me she would never achieve anything,” her mother said earlier this year. “There hadn’t been anyone who chased this dream, whereas Madeline really chased it. She wanted this and she worked hard for it.”

Congratulations, Madeline! We wish you all the best.
