Angus T Jones has played Jake Harper on Two and a Half Men since he was 10, but the 19-year-old seems to have had a change of heart about the show that has made him a household name.
Angus, who reportedly earns around $425,000 per episode for his role on the show, posted a clip to YouTube in which he discusses his Christian faith and discourages people from watching the show. “I’m on Two and Half Men and I don’t want to be on it. Please stop watching it. Please stop filling your head with filth,” he said.
It’s not the first time an actor has spoken out against the show. Angus’ video follows Charlie Sheen’s negative comments last year against Two and a Half Men’s creator Chuck Lorre. While Charlie’s hedonistic lifestyle mirrored that of his character’s, Angus has revealed how he grapples with his faith and being on the show, which has heavy sexual content.
“There’s no playing around when it comes to eternity… People will see us and be like, ‘I can be a Christian and be on a show like Two and a Half Men.’ You can’t. You cannot be a true God-fearing person and be on a television show like that. I know I can’t.”
CBS has declined to comment about Angus’ video, and the actor has stated that he is still under contract for another year. “It is not too much of a decision on my part. I know God has me there for a reason for another year.”
