opera star Luciano Pavarotti is recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery for pancreatic cancer this week. The 70-year-old Italian tenor was about to leave the US to perform the British leg of his farewell world tour when doctors found a malignant pancreatic mass. Luciano’s spokesperson says, “Fortunately, the mass was able to be completely removed at surgery. or. Pavarotti is recovering well and his physicians are encouraged by the physical and emotional resilience of their patient.” She also confirmed all of Luciano’s 2006 concerts have been cancelled, although it is hoped he will begin touring again in 2007.
