Lorde overload

Demand to watch Lorde’s new music video Team was so high that it temporarily crashed YouTube. The page posted an error message shortly after the video was posted at 10am today, which was followed by a tweet from the 17-year-old Kiwi singer: “I think you’re all overloading the video… let it breathe!” Followed by “omg you crashed vevo!” The video is now live again, and Lorde posted a message on her Facebook page today explaining the video.

“This video was born from a dream I had a few months ago about teenagers in their own world, a world with hierarchies and initiations, where the boy who was second in command had acne on his face, and so did the girl who was queen,” she wrote.

“I dreamt about this world being so different to anything anyone had ever seen, a dark world full of tropical plants and ruins and sweat, and of this world, I dreamt about tests that didn’t need to be passed in order to be allowed in: sometimes the person who loses is stronger. Enjoy xx”
