Former Grey’s Anatomy star TR Knight tied the knot with longtime boyfriend Patrick in an intimate ceremony in front of family and friends.
“It [was] very small and quiet,” an insider reveals to US Weekly of the ceremony, which was attended by Katherine’s former co-star and good friend Katherine Heigl.
TR, who played Dr George O’Malley on the hit show until 2009, has since starred in The Good Wife and is currently taking the stage playing Mercutio in an off-Broadway production of Romeo & Juliet, alongside Elizabeth Olsen and William Hurt. TR was noticeably absent from the Friday and Saturday showings to celebrate his big day.
Meanwhile, Ellen Pompeo has opened up about Katherine Heigl’s “tough” exit from the show. Katherine left on bad terms with writer Shonda Rhimes in 2008 after the actress withdrew herself from winning an Emmy award, because she didn’t feel the writing was deserving of a nomination.
“Hurt feelings, combined with instant success and huge paychecks started things spinning out of control,” said Ellen of the drama. “The crazier things got, as I watched all the tumult with Isaiah [Washington] and then the Katie [Heigl] thing, I started to focus on the work.
“You could understand why she wanted to go – when you’re offered $14 million a movie and you’re only 26,” she said. “But Katie’s problem is that she should not have renewed her contract. She re-upped, took a big raise and then tried to get off the show. And then her movie career did not take off.”
