Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge gave Kim Kardashian a reality check last week when she returned a gift the star sent her.
While visiting London last week, Kim and her sisters sent Kate a load of free clothing from their Kardashian Kollection – only to have the threads returned immediately. The Examiner reports that Kate “politely declined” to accept the freebies and an insider says that although Kate is known to purchase clothes from non-designer stores, the figure-hugging Kardashian look is definitely not the duchess’ style.
“Kate is hardly going to turn up for an event with the Queen in a cheap leopard print miniskirt or gold sequined jacket,” said a source.
Many designers have noticed a flurry of sales after the duchess has worn their designs – most notably an Issa dress which sold out in stores and online after Kate wore it while announcing her engagement to Prince William.
Kim is said to have hoped to cash in on the “Kate effect” and boost sales of her clothing line, and is even said to have tried to arrange to have tea with Kate during her time in London. Kim’s reps deny that she tried to meet Kate.
