Denise Richards has opened up about her close relationship with ex-husband Charlie Sheen.
Last week, the Starship Troopers star called Charlie “the greatest ex” after he flew her home on a private plane so she could take her kids to school, and this weekend Denise said enjoys spending time with Charlie.
“My situation with Charlie is that we’ve gotten along for quite some time now, and it’s much better, I think,” she told reporters at an event in Los Angeles on Saturday.
“There’s lots of feelings and emotions there, but at the end of the day we want our daughters to benefit by us getting along. For myself, I don’t want to have an unhealthy relationship with him … life’s too short for that and we actually enjoy hanging out and being with the kids, and it’s much easier.”
The 42-year-old actress was married to Charlie for four years. Their divorce in 2006 got ugly and Denise later sought a restraining order against the Anger Management star, alleging death threats against her.
But the pair have made amends and she was recently awarded temporary custody of Charlie’s twins Bob and Max after their mother, Brooke Mueller, was admitted to rehab – a decision Charlie has supported.
“He loves those kids,” a source told People magazine.
“But he’s got a crazy work schedule, filming two shows a week, and would rather they spend time with Denise and their daughters than with a nanny at his empty house.”
