Anne Hathaway was “obsessive” about weight loss

Anne Hathaway has admitted that she was “obsessive” about her 11kg weight loss for her role in Les Miserables, eating just two thin squares of dried oatmeal paste a day.

In an interview with Vogue, Anne reveals that for her role as the prostitute Fantine she was in a state of “deprivation, physical and emotional” when shooting ended – she dropped 4kg on a cleansing diet before filming began and another 7kg during a two-week break in filming.

Anne also said she believes she was in an unhealthy state of mind at the time. “I had to be obsessive about it – the idea was to look near death. Looking back on the whole experience – and I don’t judge it in any way- I was a little nuts.”
