Anxious Prince William rushes pregnant Kate to hospital

Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge has certainly been blooming over the past few weeks, and the palace confirmed today that Kate is indeed expecting.

The exciting news comes after after almost a year of tabloids falsely speculating that the Duchess was pregnant but as the Weekly reports in this week’s issue there signs of the couple’s happy news were there last week. The palace confirmed the baby news in an official statement this morning:”Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting a baby,” read the statement released today. “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and Prince Harry and members of both families are delighted with the news.” The news came as Kate, who has not yet reached the 12 week mark, was admitted to hospital yesterday suffering acute morning sickness. Sources say the Duchess began to feel ill at her parents’ home in Bucklebury, Berkshire, where she and Prince William were spending the weekend. When she became unable to keep any food or water down a concerned, William consulted a doctor but declined the use of an ambulance choosing to drive her to the hospital himself accompanied by their personal protection officers. William has been by Kate’s side during the stay.

“The Duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII Hospital in Central London with Hyperemesis Gravidarum,” the palace confirmed. “As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her Royal Highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter.” Sources say that the Duchess was hooked up to an IV drip to increase her fluid and nutrient level to treat the Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) – a rare but severe form of morning sickness condition believed to affect up to two per cent of women in pregnancy. Women on their first pregnancies are more likely to suffer from HG which can cause suffers to lose weight and feel tired and dizzy.

There has been much speculation over the past week about Kate’s pregnancy due to her changing appearance and after she began to look queasy during a hockey game at her former prep school on Friday. For more on William and Kate’s baby plans see this week’s issue on sale now.
