George Clooney's Italian revolution

3 Sep

Hollywood is no match for the simple delights of Italy, George Clooney has confirmed. The Hollywood hunk credits buying his house in Lake Como with changing his life for the better.

Says the ‘Up in the Air’ actor, "What changed my life in a very pleasant and unexpected way was buying the villa in Laglio. That was a pure investment decision - I thought I would maybe spend a few weeks vacationing there. But then I realised how beautiful life was in Italy and how it really helped calm me and not feel so pressured."

Eternal bachelor George, who’s been dating Italian television presenter Elisabetta Canalis for over a year, also says life in Italy has changed his priorities. “I was working so hard on my film projects that for a time I basically didn't even think very much about how my personal life was evolving.

“Now, I still feel I haven't done my best work although I've at least put myself in a position where I can keep doing what I love and enjoy the process. I even have a bit of a personal life these days. I don't want to make anyone sick but things are going pretty well for me."

Over the Teacups

My four-year-old grandson was at the supermarket with his mother when he exclaimed, “You’re buying something, Mummy, auntie is buying something – I want to buy something!” Mum replied, “You have to be big, have a wife, have a job, then you can buy things.” He replied, “I have a wife – Maia,” meaning his four-year-old friend. Mum said, “What about a job?” Master Four replied, “My job is having a wife!”

Water you want?

I was in the car and asking Master Three what he wanted for Christmas. He said he was going to ask Santa for a water pistol. “And Nanny,” he added, “I’m going to ask for some water for our paddling pool.” Now that could be interesting!

Bee gone

Master Three had his first bee sting recently. The incident broke his heart, but after many cuddles he came right. Later he said, “I never want to see another bee again. I don’t like bees any more, I only like flies.”

Fraud with worry

My daughter warned me that “old people are being taken for a ride,” and that I shouldn’t engage in conversation with phone sales people. To this, Master Five piped up, “Nana can’t go on that ride, she’s old.”
