Soda without streaks

Dear Wendyl,
I’ve heard that you recommend using washing soda in the dishwasher, but when I use it, the glasses come out all streaky. Any tips?

Dear Michelle,
Your letter got me going as I use commercially bought rinse aid in my dishwasher with washing soda and it’s fine. But I wondered if there was a natural alternative. And I’ve found it – white vinegar. (Just put it in the rinse-aid tray as usual.) Glassware comes up a treat. Please be aware that dishwasher manufacturers only recommend commercial cleaners so you use this at your own risk.
