Q & A: Wedding makeup

I’m going to my grandson’s wedding this summer and wearing a purple outfit. Can you advise on eye make-up?

‘one thing you shouldn’t do is match your make-up to your outfit,’ says Teresa Fairminer, celebrity make-up artist .

‘Purple is wonderful, but can be very draining if you don’t get your make-up right. Don’t try to use purple colours and avoid frosty shades on the eyes, as you’ll end up looking too dolly.

‘Stick to neutral, matte eye shadows and make eyes look bigger with a grey pencil eyeliner rather than black.’

Celebrity and bridal make-up artist Julia B, who did the Duchess of Cornwall’s wedding make-up, says: ‘Purple make-up is a no-no. Instead, use cool tones on cheeks, lips and nails in pink and peach. Go for neutral browns on eyes.’

International make-up artist-Chase Aston adds: ‘I recommend matte shadow shades in greys, slate and rich navy.’
