Carpet disas-tar

Dear Wendyl,
Thank you for the pull-out pages with the natural cleaning recipes, they are very helpful. Can you tell me how to get tar off a carpet?

Hi Lorraine,
Thanks for your feedback and your query. I have three suggestions. one is combining 1 cup white distilled vinegar with 1 teaspoon linseed oil and rubbing this mixture on the tar spot. But I have a feeling this wouldn’t be too good on carpet, but more useful for a hard floor. Another suggestion is dissolving 1 cup of my old friend washing soda in four cups of warm water. Wearing gloves, saturate a cloth with the mixture, then rub off. Rinse well. Another suggestion is to use turps, which because it is obtained from pine tree resin is technically natural. Please let me know how you get on.
